Several versions of Olha's life are told on the screen by different people who knew her: her son Prince Sviatoslav, the monk Arefa, the keykeeper Malusha, the guinea man Vivera, the voivode Sveneld, and others. The story takes place in 2011 in the city of Tokyo, which has just been hit by an earthquake and tsunami. Kyoko suddenly leaves her husband Komura after watching the earthquake coverage for five days straight. His colleague Katagiri, a simple debt collection agent by profession and a strange recluse in life, returns home one evening to find a two-metre tall frog asking him to save Tokyo from the imminent earthquake.

A small cargo plane that was to deliver supplies to the soldiers of a unit, which got encircled, is shot down near an urban-type settlement. The crew of four people manages to jump out with parachutes into the occupied territory. The pilot and the pilot's assistant steer the plane away from the settlement. The plane falls behind the forest into a swamp. Against the backdrop of the crew members’ adventures, the story of the chief’s mother, 40-year-old Galyna, who heads to the east to buy out her son from captivity, unfolds.

The history of the Ivan Mykolaychuk Cultural and Art Centre began in 1968. Back then, the Druzhba cinema was built in Chernivtsi. 21 years later, it was named after Ivan Mykolaychuk.

The next important event was the reconstruction of the building designed by Yaroslav Boyko (BOYKO ARCHITECT GROUP). It was completed in 2020, and the following year the centre became fully operational.

Ivan Mykolaichuk Cultural and Art Centre

Today, it is a modern institution of the Chernivtsi territorial community, which has become the main location of the Mykolaychuk OPEN festival of audience films. The events will take place in the cinema hall, which can accommodate 352 people, the Ivan-Hub art space and the Ivan Mykolaychuk Museum.
